Buying a 79 500 km Engine. Wondering if im doing the right thing?
If i buy a 79500 km Turbo 2 engine, does it need an overhaul? Thing is i got an engine in the car already wich will go back too normal if i overhaul it, should i still opt too buy a lower mileage engine and do the overhaul on that one instead?
Or simply screw the overhaul on the new one and sell the old one? Im having it dissasembled and streeported aswell as putting in more heavy duty Apex Seals ( at least that was my plan ) but i dont really wanna give the engine a total overhaul if its not gonna be needed in a while...a total overhaul here will cost me about Whats your opinion on this? The cheapest option for overhaulin here in Norway will be about a whooping 4.000,- |
Test compression and if the numbers look good just swap it in. Also most people will say to avoid "heavy duty apex seals" and just go with Mazda seals.

It's really hard to say, mostly depends on the abuse it took. If it was treated good, then shit that motor is nearly brand new. Don't forget there really isn't any way for the seller to prove it truly is 79,500km's.

So the Mazda Seals can handle about 450-500 hp?
|
Hp doesn't break seals, detonation does.
|
Aha i see, Should i have the guy selling it have it compression tested while its still in his car? Or can it be done even tho the engine is taken out?
|
Still in the car. Its possible with it taken out but a pain in the A**
|
I would be there,IF the guy is going to do a Compression Check. So Many People have Bullshitted about the Engines they have when they sell them..saying it's got 130 compression, blah blah(when it's junk)..If the guy is local,go see him perform the test.Just to make sure the numbers are OK.If not, search for another engine,or rebuild this one..Or Whatever...another thing,If the compression is fine,Install the darn thing.Enjoy it,until the compression Fades and it becomes rebuild time.

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...316196copy.jpg Its not like i put that dumbass arrow there cause i didnt think u knew where the engine was, its just too point out its only the engine basic including the intercooler ill be getting. (excl. Water pump, dynamo,PS blablabla) |
Looking arund im thinking: " What if i bought the parts he needs/wants too replace myself, it would be hella cheap and as long as the engine is coming apart for streetporting why not just change it all? Im guessing this is one of the things i need too get for him : http://www.mazdatrix.com/getprice.asp?p ... -2710-8DF6 ? Are there more parts i need for an overhaul?
