broken vac. line part (pics)
 

i have been trying to get to know the vac. lines and i have been changing them. so far i have changed out 10ft. of the 3.5mm. i broke the nipple off of the part in the pic. i was wondering if i can just block off the lines since i dont have emissions.

and i got this with my rb exhaust, is it to block off the airpump?

If you're talking about the vacuum line to the purge control valve, I believe it's important for getting fuel out of the oil. The block off plate is for the ACV, which would let you take off the air pump if you've got an S4. Also, if that's a FRAM oil filter, you might consider changing companies when you do the next oil change, because FRAM filters have been known to disintegrate!

the thing i am talking about is the round black thing next to the oil filler cap. and i usually use bosch oil filters but i actually changed my oil today and all they had was fram....

you guys think i can bypass it and just run the lines straight through. or is it not for emissions?

It's a purge control valve (tell me if I'm wrong) and auto parts stores stock a wide variety of them. I haven't seen the exact same one in the local stores, but they might have something that will work the same way.

When I broke mine, I just got a replacement from the local junkyard for $1.

alright, thanks. so if i go to checker what should i ask them for since they dont have one specific to rx7's?

IF replacing old lnes, it's best to get a one sided razor blade and cut the rubber length wise where it attaches to the plastic nipple, then remove the line.

IF someone had patience and some five minute epoxy, plus say a toothpick, he could repair the broken part.

Whttle the toothpick to the size of the hole. Put vaseline as a parting agent on the tooth pick. Apply EPOXY to the mating surface of the two broken part. Insert the toothpick thru the broken nipple and the half of the nipple that is not broken and shove the two together.

The toothpick will keep things aligned while the epoxy sets. Remove the toothpick after a half hour or so. Mate the rubbler to the *broken* nipple an hour later OR be patient and install it tomorrow using CARE.
