broken front diff mount

alright dudes. ive searched and found lots of info on how to replace the front diff mount, but i just wanted so input on my diagnosis.

the rear end clunks big time when ever i shift. i jack up the rear of the car and went through 3 gears and the frond off the diff jumps up when shifting. but the mount look intact!!! wtf? anything else it could be???

Nope. Take the subframe down and replace the mount. Add a pinion snubber before you put it back together...

i make solid ones....

Solid mounts are just a beefed up bad design. Change the force from shear to compression with a pinion snubber and you're good.

Gurew Jan 1, 2011 11:03 PM

while i agree...pinion snubber is a must...the replacement cost of an oem front mount is shtoopid

Gurew Jan 2, 2011 01:37 AM

just do it yourself...its not hard to do

Solid front mounts? If so, shoot me some pics and a price please.

Flipping them makes a big difference, i had a loose front mount and flipped them and made a difference.. I corrected the loose front mount a month ago and kept the rear washer flipped.

lol @ SuperNow galore

MMR makes some pretty stiff rear diff mounts

unek87 Jan 4, 2011 09:55 PM

^ no shit must be nice

LargeOrangeFont Jan 4, 2011 10:46 PM

They start to collapse when you tighten them to the proper torque spec.

And you can replicate that SuperNow crap for about $10 with a flat piece of alumnium.

The MMR rear mounts are great. I've been running them for about 2 years.

I'm just looking to find a stiffer front mount than the Mazdaspeed one and then add a pinion snubber.

If you find a stiffer front mount than Mazdaspeed, you wont need a snubber, because it will be solid.

I have a welded front mount in my car.

Gurew Jan 4, 2011 11:22 PM

i have a better option than pure solid :) but MUCH stiffer than mazdaspeed....waiting on some tooling to come in and ill make a batch of 20....ontop of that..ill pay to be a vendor, so i guess if yall can hold out :) ill make some cash and you guys can get a good product
