Broke vs fix

Hey everyone I'm having troubles figuring out if something is broke or not.

You know you can have a broke car, vs a running one vs one running good.

Well, I don't like to wait for things to break before I try to fix them.

For instance, the exhaust works because I can feel air at the tips, BUT I can smell it with the windows up and can hear it kind of ticking. And when I hit my brake pedal the lights flicker as if hitting the brakes draw a ton of current. So could that be the battery cuz the one in there is kind of small and wanted a factory sized battery or because I screwed around with the BAC.......or just run it til it breaks then worry about fixing.

Thank You

If you're smelling exhaust in the car with the windows up your shifter seals are likely to blame. As far as your brake lights, start checking your grounds. Start with your battery cables (both ends) and then move on to the the chassis grounds. You can also get your battery tested at a auto parts store along with your alternator. (if you care to remove it)
