Broke a stud on the one of my exhaust parts......
 

Hey guys. I was still trying to track down the exhaust leaks from my true duals. I thought I had gotten rid of them when I tightened down my muffler but they were still there. So I thought I would tighten all the nuts/bolts down and see if any were loose or something was broken in the system. Well when I got to the Pass. side silencer my friend noticed that I was missing a washer on one of the nuts so I grabbed the socket wrench and had at it. But the bitch wouldn't budge more than an 1/8th of a turn. So me and my friend grabbed on and attempted to loosen it and pop there goes the stud. I think the heat must have gotten to the stud or the nut because you couldn't turn it for your life and it wasn't cross threaded as all the threads were still ok looking. So now I am stuck with a huge exhaust leak out of my front rotor's silencer. I was thinking about taking it to an exhaust shop and having another stud welded on. The exhaust setup is the Mazdatrix True duals with RB muffers and silencer. The best thing would be to get new silencers and install them but I don't thave a couple of hundred bucks so I have to fix this inexpensively. Do you all think that it is possible to weld on more stud onto the "stump" or will they have to cut/grind it down and use another one? I already know what type to get its an M12 with a 1.75 thread pitch. What do you all think?

PS- now the car really sounds like a V-twin! :eek: I got some looks on the way home.

I'm taking my pre-silencer over to the machine shop tommorow. Hopefully they aren't complete idiots.

take it to a shop if you want to.... i thought u had broken an exhaust stud on the block, which is what i did, but yours is a much easier fix... you can still drive it around and get it somewhere... mine turned into a 12 hour job, haha

nah its just the stud on the silencer. But its around 150 to replace the silencer so i'll take my chances with a shop. Hopefuly they can do it for less than 150 :p:
