Brakes on 90 gtu??
Hello everyone. Ive been looking for a bit but havent found what I need?
I've come across some money and am redoing my brakes first. I want to get slotted rotors around, ss lines, pads....and t2 calipers? question is....does the 90 gtu have vented rear brakes??? I dont think so but you have to specify when ordering the rotors. 2nd question. Should I get t2 calipers for front and rear, or just one???? Are they a direct swap or do I need to make sure and buy extra parts for the swap?? Will ss lines be universal or are the different for n/a and t2? what will I need if I have the t2 calipers?? thanks alot guys. I appreciate it. Rob |

The four piston calipers need a hard line between the caliper and the strut...make sure the calipers you buy come with 'em. |

Ok, here's the deal, the 90 GTU wouldn't have come with the 4 pot front and vented rear brakes (they're not unique to the Turbo, some NA's got them too). SO no, you don't have the vented rears. The brake lines are different in the front, but you can use the single piston brake lines on the 4 piston calipers by not using the caliper to strut hardline.
Unless you're planning on tracking it, it's not worth upgrading to the 4 pot/vented read setup. The stock brakes are fine. Slotted rotors don't do anything for performance and will probably wear your pads faster. Corksport and Mazdatrix sell cheap DOT approved SS brake lines. Parts store pads (not the super cheap ones) are enough pad unless you're really hard on brakes or are driving way to aggressively on the street. Performance pads will give more fade resistance and more bite, but it's not necessary. I'd reccomend rebuilding your stock calipers, getting some SS lines, and if you need rotors, get some NAPA rotors or something similiar, cheap but good quality, then if your pads are nearly dead maybe get some nice performance pads like Hawk HPS or Porterfield R4-S. |
