brake lights all of a suddent no longer works

hi,

recently , all of asudden my brake lights[i have circle lights] wont work on my 87 fc. It used to work all the time.everything else works,. but also another problem showed up after the brake light issue, my battery keeps on dying the next day?i always have to jump start it now. the battery is pretty new, about half year old.but any idea why the brake light isnt working? is something shorting out causing the battery to die,and brake lights to not work? any inputs?

check your headlight switch and harness first to see if they are burnt where the connectors go. as far as the battery thing i would suggest taking an ohm meter and tracing down what is staying hot after the key is out of the ignition.

oh and also check your fuses. i would check those first.

If all the other lights work except the brake lights, the first thing I'd look at is the brake light switch on the pedal assembly.

you defiantly have a short someplace, hence your battery being drained daily.

What do you mean by circle lights? do you have the newer tail lights from a 88-91? if thats the case the plastic housing wont make a difference. Also did you just change out the assemblies or in the last few months? if you did then you might have cut a wire or caused one to chafe and now has exposed wiring.

i used to do aircraft maintenance and you can spend hours chasing down a little short. its not hard just time consuming and it requires a lot of patience sometimes.

good luck
