BOV Too Small?

What will compressor surge sound like with a BOV? I am running at more than 10psi with a TurboXS BOV that i'm not sure is too great for my application and I was wondering if BOV's of different qualities can only handle certain amounts of boost? I've only boosted a few times in the car since its untuned and I just got a new clutch installed, but when I do, I usually only floor it up to like 3500rpms and when I let off it sounds like a few tsh-tsh-tsh sounds in a row like multiple BOV's going off. I've never heard compressor surge so I wasn't sure if I was getting it or not. What BOV or fix can you guys recommend if it is in fact a BOV that can't handle this much boost?

certain BOV's yeild certain capacities from what i recall, there are many different kinds that respond to different Psi's....

Unplug the BOV vacuum line and rev the motor.
You'll hear what compressor surge sounds like. :)

How bad is compressor surge? Don't want anything screwing up exactly with all these new parts. Is there any chance that the BOV is working fine but since there is higher boost its making a different sound but still be good for what its made to do?

Do this 2 to 3 times won't affect anything.
Having this done over a long duration of time and under heavy boost will kill the thrust bearing in the turbo.

it's capacity is probably too low, when i installed my TID i found even a small resitriction(my 3/4" nipple at the TID) from stock was causing my compressor to surge, it does't take much so if it isn't flowing as much as it needs it isn't doing its job. i'm planning on moving up to a HKS SSQV and fixing the adapter, that should take care of my problem. i looked at those TurboXS BOVs, they didn't impress me much, if you want a slightly cheaper BOV i would probably suggest the Apexi or a Blitz.

I ordered a new Blitz BOV since its the only other one I know of that makes the simple woosh of air sound instead of the squeal which I hate. Hopefully that will be good. If I go for my dyno tune and all that with the old BOV, will I run into any problems if I only wait a week before the other one gets shipped in and I can install it?

I have a TorboXS type RFL...... When i was running too many packer washers under the spring..... sometimes i'd get that twsh-twsh -twsh sound.. which, BTW is compressor surge, because I had it cranked down to hard and it wouldn't bloff off right under small vac changes... took three washers out, leaving one in and its fine now (I know, fours is a lot, but i was chasing a boost leak)

As far as it not being big enough.... don't think thats the problem.... usually, they are rated as how much boost they can HOLD before they leak....
