Just installed a Borla Catback Exhaust with a RP superflow cat system this weekend on a 88NA. Excellent system, nice deep tone. Bolted right up no problems.

How hard is it to take off the DP and put the cat back on for smog?

Originally posted by seven1997 Borla Catback Exhaust with a RP superflow cat system I got a really big kick out of that. My only problem now is that since the exhaust is so much quiter than the holey rusted crap I pulled off, I end up driving a lot faster than before because I keep waiting for it to get loud. I'm glad to be able to hear my radio at normal volume levels again too. |
Ohh I wanted to ask... With the RB cat replacement and presilencer.... any probs with 5th and 6th port actuation?
|
No problem with 5th and 6th as I state in my review
And the ease of taking off the dp SHOULD be easy. Use anti seize when you put it on so you don't get any stuck nuts, have a friend help out.. You only have to remove 6 bolts with the airpump hose but you may want to remove 4 more.. it makes it easier to remove the doughnuts holding it up if you just unbolt the brackets attaching them. The hardest part for me was pushing the cat back while pushing the pipe into place but that's much easier with a friend. Flobb: Isn't it cool to have that rotary sound :-) I am so suprised that this system isn't more popular.. it's deep but not too loud.. what more do ya want :-D |
I'll just have to find someone up here in the NW to help me do the install when i get it.

install is fairly straight forward and took me like an hour or so with a jack and 2 jackstands. only thing you may want help with is having someone hold up the muffler/pipes etc while you put them in. you may want to buy some penetrating oil like PB blast etc. to loosen up some of the original exhaust nuts as they will be rusted on there. you also will probably need a breaker bar for your wratched :).
