BorgWarner EFR IWG(Internal Wastegate) Turbo Systems

Hey guys we are now making BW EFR IWG turbo system for the FC using both the 7670 & 8374 units.

Here is a little writeup on the EFR IWG turbos;

I just discovered the IWG FD3S manifold will work on the FC3S chassis for the 7670 IWG! Here is another option for those looking for the ultimate in boost response.

In case you guys haven't seen it I recently tuned a member's car with the 8374 IWG and the results are incredible. This was on an FD3S engine, so one should expect a tick more lag( roughly 300rpms in my experience) with the S4 T2 8.5:1 rotors. However the 7670 should be even faster than this graph, regardless of engine rotors used. It ran out of fuel pump on the top end, hence it falling over...

We also updated our blog with a bunch more information on the EFR turbos;

Those are some nice torque numbers.

If my next engine isnt a 20b, it will be a 20b with one of these turbo setups. The spool time is unreal considering how large the turbo is.

Are there in pics of the setup IN a car?

Is the manifold pictured your FD manifold? it looks way shorter than any of the manifolds on your site.

Yes it is our IWG FD manifold. Just an FYI we are not selling this manifold by itself. It must at least be bought with a turbo...

We don't have installed photos yet, I will get some in the next two weeks on our mockup FC chassis...

how does the IWG on the 7670 hold at lower boost pressures? in the 10-15PSI range? is there boost creep?

We have not sold many 7670 kits, but the one user who did tune his installation reported he could hold 7 psi to redline. 3 other 8374 kits held between 8 and 12 psi to redline. the 8374 has the same turbine housing/wg design( just a smaller turbine wheel).

yeah just shows that the modern internal wastegates & wastegate passages are much more optimized for flow than old off the shelf housings designed in the 80s
