Boosting Problems.....
I have noticed within the last month, maybe more that its getting harder to get into boost.
the only time that i have noticed that i can jump the boost gauge up past 2-3 is if im on the highway and i drop it into 4th and hit it, but only if i floor it. then depending if im going up hill or down, the boost will rise. up hill the cars a piece of shit. on a highway for example. right now the boost is only set at like 7, but its a mission to even get it up to 7. why might my fc be draggin its ass around all of a sudden? i feel like im almost driving a n/a or something. (no offense) ;) can the compression is going that quick? im afraid to push the car cause it doesnt seem like it wants to go. only may 2-3 times a week(i drive it everyday) does it impress me. thanks for any help. |
vacuum leak, something wrong with wastegate ??

If you haven't done the TB mod, check to see if the vacuum diaphragm is holding the extra secondary throttle plates closed (It's on the front of the throttle body linked to the shaft closest to the drivers side).

do you still have a cat?? it's probably melted and pluged up now.
|
to check for excess backpressure, pull your o2 sensor and do a full throttle run and see if your boost increases. If it does, you have a clogged cat. If no, you need to look elsewhere. Driving without the o2 sensor for a short period is ok, other than being a bit loud.

Yep, definitely sounds like a clogged cat. Is it original?

as far as i know, i believe the cat is gutted. ill have to look for sure.
whats the best way to find a vacuum leak? mike |
