Yeah, love the instantaneous response that goes along with a mehcanical gauge... Sorry, but running a vacuum line all the way to the cockpit is not only a pain in the ass, but makes for a slow gauge reaction.

Now, to answer you question... It depends on your definition of better.

When it comes down to it, mechanical is only superior in price; they are significantly cheaper.

Electrical tend to react faster, have remote boost sensors (only need to run wires into cockpit), and come with extra gooides such as warning and peak boost functions.

Moreso, I would be more concerned with brand than electrical vs. mechanical.

i just installed a mechanical gauge before i blew my motor. the reaction time was near nil.

Like I said, it depends on the brand. Side by side comparisons between an old school VDO mechanical(worst), autometer pro comp mechanical, and Greddy 60mm electronic, hands down, the Greddy responded the fastest.

If you have only ever installed a mechanical, how can you comment on relative reaction times?

because i am a line tech for a dodge dealership.

should have clairifed. i use machanical and electronic gauges daily, of course electronic gauges will react faster but not worth the extra cash unless you like the added features imo.
