boost gauge
i'm trying to put in a boost gauge...i've searched the forums but couldn't find a thread that will work for me...so here's the problem...
i've got a generic autometer boost gauge from a friend (who couldn't get it to work) with the psi readings...i t'd it to the boost pressure line doesn't work, t'd it to the bov line doesn't work...tried blowing air into it with a compressor at 10psi...whalla...the darn thing moves...so where the hell do i plug it in??? someone's gotta know...anyone??? |
Should just T in to the same line the stock boost sensor was?? that is were I installed my AVCR

Did you drive the car under boost with it tee'd into the boost sensor line???? When at idle does the gauge drop down into the minus range? Or does it just sit there at the same reading under boost and under vacuum? YOU know the gauge works. So just what is it that your doing wrong hooking it up to the car. Does the factory gauge show boost while your autometer sits on its ass???? You are right. I have no idea why it does not work. You seem to have it connected to the right place. Got a small break in the hose from the autometer gauge??? Can you blow into the gauge and see the needle move a bit?? Would you like to buy my autometer gauge??? Fair price. Only thing it does wrong is read an incorrect reading. Its shiney. White faced. Low milage, high readings. Only spat on once.

You have to put the car under load. It won't just read boost if your not moving and revving the engine. Try that, I had the same thing happen to me, then I relized, I'm not putting the car under load. Drive it around with the gauge connected.
