boost controller ??

I used to have a link to a site which shows you how to install an apexi avc-r unit into our fc3s. I can't find it anymore...does anyone know the link??

I am trying to decide whether to go greddy profect B with a autometer full-sweep electronic boost gauge (15psi max). This sets me back $190 + $315 = $505

(yes, I understand most autometer gauges are not as accurate, but this is the new full sweep electronic boost gauge with peak and warning, and it's the ONLY one I found that max at 15psi - I don't plan to run 30psi or 2 bars, and I really prefer to have more measurement increments)

or I can get just the avc-r for $460, and it has its own boost gauge)

I am concern about "tuning" the avc-r...

Thanks for your input..

What tuning is involved with the avc-r? It has no fuel management or anything. Shouldnt you just set the boost levels and go?

not really...

here is a site that describes installation procedures for an fd3s

just get a manual one for $30... it works just as good, if not better. the only difference is you can't change the boost from inside the car. if you plan on setting it and leaving it. (like most people) there is no point in getting an electric one.

actually, I do like to have 2 settings...low and high...

plus...IMO, a good electronic boost controller is more accurate since it has close loop feedback control.

and while at it, anyone seen/using the new HKS EVC V??? Any comment??

Yeah I want 2 settings also. I want to run more boost when my water injection is turned on, not have just high boost and have to turn the WI anytime I got onto it.

Most people that use EBC's tend to go with the profec b. Theres a guy on here with the name 87gtr and he had an avc-r(was selling it to get a profec b) so he might know how to install it. I don't see whats different between boost controllers except with the avc-r you might need to tap into the ecu for some of the extra features.
