"bolt on" ???

Ok...im getting the Cork sport full 3" "Bolt on" exhaust. can i (a 17 year old that knows a lil about cars) put that on myself? or am i going to need like tourches and stuff to put it on??

WAYNE88N/A 04-28-04 06:21 PM

what the heck, go for it, just don't let the car fall on ya...

Cowzzz 04-28-04 06:22 PM

i was planin on it. only concern was if i cant get it all on for some reason and i have to take it to a shop. the system has no catalytic converters. will they not do it or what?

WAYNE88N/A 04-28-04 06:26 PM

depends on how much money you got j/k...if they advertised it as a complete bolt up system, you shouldn't have a prob...if you figure out an ingenious way to get all the rubber donuts on without cussing (you'll see what I mean), let us know...

Cowzzz 04-28-04 06:34 PM

does anyone know anyone that has a bolt on exhaust system. if so how did it turn out?

sectachrome 04-28-04 06:36 PM

search, you should come up with some stuff

Fitness Stain 04-28-04 06:59 PM

putting on the rubber donuts is the easy part ...

taking them off is crazy .... you wanna wear yourself out in 3 mins ... yank on those mo fo's

its ridiculous

theonlygreat 04-28-04 07:12 PM

those rubber donuts are quite simple to remove and reinstall if you use leverage with a long screw driver. the corksport should bolt on like is supposed to with no problems. I have a bolt on HKS dual exhaust that bolted on perfectly.

I ahve that exact system on my car, it took me no more than 30 min to put it on my car.

It's really easy, taking the old one off is the hard part ;)

^What he said.

It took me maybe an hour to get my RB turbo back on. Took me three damn days to get all the old exhaust out.

I'm about to pick up a Racing Beat catback... I've looked under it and I know I COULD do it all myself, but my question is how much of a pain in the ass is it? I mean, would it be worth it to get a pro to do it just to save on pain and suffering?

Use alot of a good penetrating oil like PB blaster on all of the old nuts and bolts.

patman 04-28-04 09:24 PM

rubber donut trick. use a 12" long metal rod. i have a punch that is this long and shaped just right. get it inside the donut and just pull/pry them off. works like a charm.

Exhaust work is relatively easy (once you get the bolts off that is). I'd say going into this, get some PB blaster for bolts that wont come off, and a breaker bar if the PB blaster doesnt work. Good luck!

totallimmortal 04-28-04 10:55 PM

rb bolts up easy as cake

superstock2 04-28-04 11:08 PM

my apex'i GT bolted up right quick!!!

For the rubber exhaust donuts use a long screwdriver and a can of WD40 as a lube to help it a little. PB blaster will help alot if your exhaust hasnt been removed in a while or removed ever.

It can be done by yourself, but it really helps to have a buddy around when taking off the old one.
