Body work, need opinions.
 

I've gotten few responses on the local board so i'm posting here. I'm acquiring an rx7 for a very good price and the body is in great condition except for one big thing . . .

The will need to be fixed . . . :( Cooments, ideas, opinions? i guess i could always just buy widebody fenders ^_^

it's all repariable.. you'd want to try and knock the bulk of it out yourself with a dead head hammer and a rounded ended wooden dolly with some leather over the end. No need to bash it just start at the deges and work it out . The only thing I'd look at would be where the windo seats tot he body.. see how badly that's been bent. use a replacment light assembly as a guide marker .. then take it into a body shop and let them do the detail and clean up..

Sorry, with damage like that, I'd cut that chunk out and stitch in new (well, new to you) metal from another RX7 with damage elsewhere. Trying to straighten that is going to result in weak metal from the creasing. I always opt for new metal whenever possible, much less headache in the long run that way. Same reason I replaced my fenders and the rear valance on my FC when doing the body work.

The only hard part will be getting the lower region (where the top of the bumper is) pulled back, the rest is easy as hell to fix.

Well, I stick with the opinion you will be a lot better off to swap in straight metal. Trying to straighten all that out and up with it all true, especially in the bumper bracket area is going to be a real SOB, and likely never be "right"

yeah i'm buying the car cheap b/c of this damage, its worth the effort to me, my thoughts where just to cut the section out and weld a new one in, but i'm pretty uneasy about doing the myself. widebody would be great but i like the wheels that are on the car :\

Then pound it out, it's not all too hard to do.
