Blue smoke after WOT
I am getting large puffs of Blue Smoke following WOT in 2nd/3rd gear. If I am on the gas all the way in 2nd gear for any length of time (more than 2 or 3 seconds), or 3rd gear the same, then let off abruptly, I get large puffs of blue smoke.
Seal gone on the turbo? Need a new turbo or just a new seal? I'm really starting to think this engine is bitched and might just replace it. If I go that route, where should I buy from, any endorsements? This is last resort, so I would like to work the issues out on this engine first. I don't think anything is seriously wrong with the engine itself, just some issues to work out with stuff like this, vacuum lines, fuel lines, etc. Anyway, any other possibilities I should check out besides the Turbo seals? |

How many miles on it? If engine is old, Smoke is normal,
Ive got a '89 GTU, Im rebuilding the engine. Id run your car till it dies, then rebuild it. This is my 1st Rebuild so I cant give u any tips yet. Rebuilding is a pain. |
Lot of miles on the body (211,000 kilometres). I was told by the previous owner (a very good friend of mine) that the engine was rebuilt approximately 50,000 kilometres ago.
