Blowning gauge fuse @ high rpm
 

Car is an 87 Turbo, when at high revs a fuse blows and all the gauges except the speedo stop working. Any suggestions on where to look?

That would be the Meter fuse and it powers numerous circuits. You're going to have to unplug an item powered by the fuse and replace the fuse and then see if it blows or not. If it doesn't then you know you isolated the circuit causing the problem. While the choice is rather large the reverse lights circuit is most prone to blowing the Meter fuse, so you might want to start there.


METER: Gauges, alternator warning, cooling fan control, cruise control, reverse lights, HVAC, warning lights, reminders, AAS, alarm, 4AT control

You may want to also look up the amperage Rating on the circuit and make sure that your fuse that you have in now is the right rating.

Thanks, Ill have a good look at it when I get a chance. I checked the fuse after posting last night and it was actually ok so I wonder what has been fried >_<.

It also had a 20amp fuse, its meant to be 7.5...

No offense but If it is supposed to be a 7.5 then it SHOULD be a 7.5,not a 20.
You need to do a little more hunting.That fuse is just masking the problem.
You never,Ever put a higher amperage fuse on a circuit.The fuse is there as protection and is deemed the maximum amperage allowed on that circuit.Putting in a higher rated fuse allow more current to flow and can cause damage,melt stuff and there ya go...another thread..

Looking at this the 4AT control may be an issue. The car was originally auto and has been converted.
