Blocking off oil lines to turbocharger. Short distance drive.
 

I've been debating this for a while and my conclusion would be I would either coke up the oil in the turbo or screw it up more. But I am in a situation that I need to move the car to another location a few miles away.

Problem is the seals on the turbo took a dump and it smokes like a car in a James Bond flick. I was thinking of just blocking the oil lines to and from the turbo and driving it a few miles to where I need to park it.

What does the hive think? Light driving without boosting for a few miles...

A tow would probably be cheaper. But it you insist you might wire open the wastegate.

I'd love to have the time to send it to BNR which I plan to do here. However a fun legal battle has left me with having to remove our personal items on a specific date. If it does come down to it I will have to push the car down the block and see if I can get it towed.

Pull it off and run open header!

If you run it without oil you need to replace more then just the seals.
Pretty much the entire chra will die and without oil pressure you risk the chance of trashing the turbine/compressor wheels too

btw, towing isnt that expensive. I had my youngest son's 91 MR2 turbo towed from the high school when the ignitor died for $60 for 8 miles. You'll probably find the cheapest options by calling the local independent body shops, mechanics and tranny shops and asking who they use. There are independent guys with a tow truck or two that will charge a lot less than one of the big firms that advertise and do mostly insurance work. If you have a 20 year old car it is wise to keep a reasonably priced tow truck on speed dial!

Got any friends with trucks? Just get a rope and pull it.

+1 on the local independent guys. Peruse your local craigslist or ask the regional forum if someone has or can recommend a friend with a trailer. Recently I needed a 6 mile tow, a big company wanted $80 and an independent guy on craigslist did it for $40.

Sounds like you'd almost pay that much in oil to get it where you need to go.
