Blinker Problem
I’m not much of a mechanic myself, but I try to solve little problems without having to go to a shop.
My left blinker went out about half a year ago on my GTU. The front, back, and interior light went out all on only one side. It’s obvious that it was not a fuse problem, so I figured it was electrical. The weird thing is it came back on for a week and worked perfectly fine, then went out again. It’s been out ever sense. If you have any ideas on what the problem is it would be greatly appreciated. |
you should check the blinker fluid level......j/k but i have heard of this before and it turned out that the persons fuse panel had curroded (i hope i spelled that right) so bad they got rid of the car because they let it go for so long. not to scare you but check it out take it out and check behind the fuse panel once.

Ronin- you need to get your hands on the Factory Service Manual, wiring section, for the S5 cars. You can get the S4 wiring at TEAMFC3S.ORG, but I don't know about the S5's...You might have two different problems, the blinker might be your CPU, and a ground problem might be the others. I don't have the schematics for the S5, so I can't help as much as I'd like. Icemark may be able to, though...

pretty sure it's ur cpu. just do some resoldering.. i had just done it on my 89 GTU. solder for the blinker relay in the cpu was just jacked. re-soldered it and it was just fine
|
VietFC - What do you mean by resoldering?
I'm not to good with words. |
Don't worry about it then, just change the CPU...See if Icemark has any on his website...
|
thanks for the help

you gotta remove the old solder from the chip, then you apply a new fresh solder to it with an iron and stuff
|
Thanks VietFC I'll try that.

will be unrelated to the CPU, as the CPU does not control the parking lights.
but it would be very very unusual for th just one side of the parking lights and turn signals to go out. See there is only one harness running to the rear for both sides parking lights. This is the same for the front parking lights. So, I would be looking at bad bulbs before anything else. |

Originally posted by VietFC I agree with you with the parking lights, but for turn signals, i believe that there are two seperate circuits for them. The passenger side flashers went out on my 89 GTU and i couldn't figure out what it was. Everything else worked fine... just the passenger blinker didn't work. I finally pulled the cpu and traced the circuit for the blinker following the FSM. well, i found a weak solder point right in the middle of the board in line with the blinker circuit. I resoldered that one point and it worked fine after that. But again, it does not solve his parking light issue |
