hi i am new here i just picked up an 87 for free there seems to be no brake fluid and i dont know y i havein picked up the cay yet but my Q is if there is no leaks and every thing is good can i just bleed them and it will be fine? the guy i got it off says it did not have any when he got it the car has been sitting for a year.

all you can do is hope for the best.There has to be a reason there is no fluid in the brake system.and the only way to find out is to you to fill it and start bleeding it.
.Proper bleeding would be to start at the FURTHEST Caliper,and make your way eventually to the Closest to the master.
Don't just bled it once,Bled it like 3 times PER caliper..Try NOt to Use any fluid that has come in contact with Rusty parts and Best thing is to have lots of Fluid on hand to do it.

i agree with misterstyx - there has to be a reason why there is no brake fluid in the system. you'll probably find the leak when you bleed the system. more than likely it shouldnt be too expensive to fix.

caliper rebuild kits are cheap and brake lines can be had for a decent price. most expensive would probably be if the master cylinder is leaking. even then its not too bad.
