Bleed!
hey everyone, i got my rebuild started today :icon_tup: and it did its little bump idle and shit but when i trued to take it out for a quick spin i keept hearing this horrible squeal everytime i tried to put it in gear. it doesnt matter what gear it just squeals like crazy. i put oil in it and everything. sureshot told me to bleed the clutch and this might help. so how do i bleed the clutch on a 88t2?

I've never really had t oexplain this, but I'll try.
What I do is, first I add some fluid if it needs its, in the clutch master cylinder reservoir. Then I have a buddy pump the clutch pedal 10 pumps, to build some pressure. Have your buddy hold down the clutch at the last pump. On the clutch slave cylinder, very briefly open the bleeder valve. A few pumps, hold down the pedal on the last pump, bleed again. I know I messed something up in there, or missed something. Anyone else want to chime in so I don't feel dumb all night. |

Pilot bearing weirdness?
|
^how so?
|
I have no idea... I just don't see how the clutch hydrualics...which don't rotate can make a squeeling noise only when the car is in gear.
I really think it might be something else. When else does it make the noise? Like car in gear driving? Or car in gear stopped clutch in? |
it only makes the noise when im trying to get in gear, once in gear its ok. i see it being the cluch hydraulics because there is not alot of presure in the clutch pedal. so it might nedd to be bleed. i think if its stiffer then the slave cly should push stronger thus moving the clutch more and stop the squeal
|
have someone press on the clutch pedal while you watch the rod on the slave cylinder, if it is moving ok then it should not need to be bled and the problem lies elsewhere than the clutch hydraulics.
can you put the car in gear with the engine off? hold the service brakes and set the parking brake and try to turn over the engine with it in gear, does it turn over? did you replace the pilot bearing? |
new mazda piolt bearing and yeah when the car is off i can go through all the gears. i tried to start the car in 2nd and it just squealed for like 2 sec's then stopped squealing. :( help me i dont want to fuck up my tranny

Did you put the clutch disk in backwards? Just a shot in the dark.
|
1) i don't think you can put the disk in backwards but it may be possible
2) there could be an issue with the pivot arm or pivot ball/socket for the pivot arm either not seated correctly or damaged(this is the throwout bearing pivot arm) 3) the throwout bearing could be on backwards, also not sure if this is possible but an idea 4) the pilot bearing could have been damaged on the install in any case, unfortunately, i think you will have to be removing the transmission to find your problem. |
