Blank Factory key?
I've been all over my city looking for a replacement key for my 88 FC. I can't find one anywhere except walmart and the one they have is to big for my taste. I even went to the mazda dealer and the one they had was a lot longer than the original, it wasn't even factory.
I've looked on google and found the rotary key blank that I may get. I was just wondering, is there a place to buy an actual factory RX7 blank? Sorry for the n00B questions today. |
I actually went up to my local Mazda dealer a few weeks back and they said that the Original "Mazda" key is no longer available.

Mazdatrix sells "RX-7" keys with some modern badging on it. I think they're more awesome than the stock "Mazda" one...

those are sort of like the stock ones... Or you could always go with one of these: http://www.rotary13b1.com/c/rotor-key-blanks.html |
I think he meant the stock black head with mazda embedded in it.

the stock Mazda key is effing hideous. Get one of the rotor or Spirit R keys.

dammit that guy told me that mazda was out.
How much is the factory key? Im going tomorrow up there with the part number. |

From the looks of it, the two keys are called "Primary" and "Secondary" in the parts catalogue; I can only assume the "primary' one is plastic coated. Anyways, pricing for those are: Primary = $12 CAD Secondary = $9 CAD When mine arrives I'll throw a picture up. Secondly, if you give them your VIN, they should be able to look up the key code, as well as tell you some nifty stuff like manufacture/purchase date and sale location. Found out my car was built on January 1st, 1989 |
Thanks guys. I'm gonna go to the dealer today and order one if they will.
