billet compressor wheel upgrade

So i was searching the interweb and found these people, what do you guys think of this and their products?Compressor Wheel Hitachi HT18 Mazda RX7 FC3S 13BT ( 48/69.3) 6+6

i find it hard to believe someone made a proper working copy and made a quality machined replica for $80.

I don't doubt they can make something for that cheap since it's just another CNC program. Although WHY they would replicate the stock compressor is beyond me. A billet version might get you a small amount of response (which is already pretty good) but still won't allow it to hold boost into the higher rpm's.

This would be to build a nice stage 1 hybrid.

The specs seem to be a bit bigger than the stock turbo

Turbo Compressor Chart

stock compressor:

compressor minor = 44 mm
compressor major =63 mm

Mamba

Wheel 48.07 / 69.30 mm

would add a little more umphhh for sure.

good products?

Aftrr searching Mambas website, they also have an external adjustable wastegate with sorts of springs. Any takes on that?

It won't fit in the stock compressor housing without machining.
You're right on the specs though. It looks like the S-trim dimensions. I'm using one and it is indeed peppier and holds boost.

Machining is a given for sure anytime you change compressor wheel dimensions.

I have a old school hybrid to4e 50 trim I Believe in the stock compressor housing ( machined ) .

This one would be similar, and maybe provide a big sweet spot.

they really should specify it isn't a bolt on for the HT18 then, all the pages i looked at mention nothing about it being a larger wheel than the 18S.

so technically it's just a Garrett wheel replica that someone is trying to pawn off to Hitachi turbo owners, which by the way i saw at least 6 different places claiming this as a fit for the HT18S turbo.

if you're going to pay for balancing and compressor housing machining, i doubt you're going to trust a cheap chinese wheel. if it was a direct fit, maybe, since the HT18S wheels are not easy to find new any longer. only reason i'd consider it is for when i have no more good wheels left.

Ill shoot them an email about bolt on specifics, their site doesnt not say it is bolt on

RotaryEvolution 03-22-17 08:35 PM

calling it an HT18S hitachi replacement certainly indicates it is a bolt on.

otherwise what is the difference between calling any Garrett wheel that can fit in the HT18S housing with modification any different than saying it's for a HT18S turbo?

ie, it's a hybrid wheel, nothing HT18S about it.

So, after 2 days i finally got a reply, the compressor wheel is not a direct replacement and Will require machine work. Just another hybrid wheel....
