What kind of dyno and how much boost?
Is English your second or third language? |
How in the world did you manage to spend $18,000 on that?
|
for 18k I could buy a rebuilt bridgey, stand alone, turbo, mani, exhaust, fmic, bov, wg, injectors, rails, fpr, ewp, boost controller, have it tuned and have change.??
|
im not expert. but there has to be something wrong. either not tuned correctly or some faulty part. does the car sound like its running right? i think we may need more info. to waste 3 years and enough money to buy to a used decent Evo VIII and only pop out 200 hp is embarrassing
|
U spent how much ? Man sorry to hear that I would be pretty pissed too.it dosent make sense hope u figure out why it numbers were so bad but sounds like a tuning issue

first- compression test the motor
|
sorry to hear that man.....looks like you payed way more for everything......2k for power fc? they are 1k tops
|
no need to tell the guy he spent too much on everything, might have been new parts, plus wiring, install, tune included, etc
lets try to help the guy out |
you are right, my bad. hope all things get sorted out man!! best of luck

do a compression test to check if the engine is healthy
|
well tell us a little more about whats going on other than "its making 200 hp." we cant really work with that.
post the dyno graph. that usually tells us a lot. was the rebuild broken in correctly? |
Dyno sheet would definitely help figure out whats going on i attached my old one from a couple years ago. Also could be that turbo your skeptical on isnt building boost all that well. This was my dyno sheet on my stock turbo with stock internals 91 t2 motor just showing you something must be out of wack and making you lose power and have something to compare yours too. Has a standalone with bolt ons exhaust, fuel system, intake. As you can see my power flatlines in the 5k-6k area cause of the tiny stock turbo. These motors are rated stock 200hp so its not unheard of you could have a very conservative rich tune that doesnt make much power as a leaned out tune would. You also have the 87 t2 motor which is the s4 and has slightly less power then the s5 motors. But with a good tune on your setup you should definitely be over 200hp. So get that dyno sheet up before you do anything else!
http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/a.../DynoSheet.jpg This is not the op's dyno sheet just something he can compare his too to get an idea of what a stock motor is capable of. |
Another stock s4 t2 made 171/161 on the same Dynapack dyno @ 7.8 psi. Seems the dyno is pretty much inline with manufacturer spec's. Link to that thread here
Do you know why your tuner settled where he did? You should need more injector for a stage 3 @ 14 psi. |
before naming names without anything to back it up you should have the engine tested. i have never known nick to screw anyone over and i remember when he got that turbo and it was never abused or smoking and made more power than that when we had it on his car and i recall when he took it off when everything was still working ok but wanted more power/spool.
do a compression test on the engine but i bet you find it isn't the engine but something else, like a dead leading coil or crappy tune. |

I'm using 2304 cc of fuel (3200cc total injector size @ 72% D/C) on what's basically a BNR stage 1/2 @ 15 PSI and 11.5 AFR. Fuel pressure is stock. With 550 and 700cc injectors at 80% D/C, you've only got 2000 cc of maximum flow. You'll need bigger injectors or a lot more fuel pressure to keep them from maxing out with the sort of airflow a stage 3 is capable of. |
Certainly need more fuel, that's for sure.
|
the fuel is questionable, but the tuner should have known this as well.
I have run out of injector and fuel pump on the dyno, its pretty simple things you check before you really start tuning for boost. You check for loss of fuel pressure, and you check injector duty cycle- the tuning session can end abruptly right there, but there still should have been communication between the tuner and the owner as to the set up and expectations before it got that far all that being said- I cant see how the car was tuned to 14psi |
Just my 2 cents,
1. do a compression test 2. You should get bigger secondaries 3. varify you what gauge wire you use when rewiring up your walbro... too small will affect your DC 4. what Vaccuum do u have on idle? 5.it could of been too hot when you aere at the dyno...what was the ambient temp. 6. where is the dyno sheet? hybrid |
Test the engine first.
|
can you be more specific? At least post a video while the car is idling.
