probably a disconnected speedo cable or broken speedo cable

This is pretty basic auto 101

Read above^, but it also could be a stripped speedo gear in the tranny also. Doubt that it has disconnected it'self behind the dash, or even at the tranny unless you ran over something or
someone just did a clutch job and did not tighten the cable.

Actually if not tightend correctly it will come off and you need to replace to whole cable.

Now why do you need to replace the whol cable?

Its a cable with a white cap fiting shoved into a tube.

Are you saying it unscrewd and more then likely fell out?

KompressorLOgic 08-12-05 01:01 AM

well ive had it pop off the back of the dash once,

then in my other car it broke the gear off the end of the cable that goes into the trany.....
so i need to replace the whole cable

If it fell out the trany side, then you are going to need to replace the cable..

It's common that the speedo cables die on these cars. :P
