Better way to put intercooler
 

After lots of resurce i finally find a way to put 31x12x4 core fmic on my fc without cutting the bumper or removing bumper support
i know this is already been done but this is mine
(by the way its just a ebay intercooler not a greddy just the guy i got it of a painted on the core and i didnt have time to cleaning yet )

thats a pretty tight fit
With my FMIC, I had to cut a little bit of the bumper, damn length end to end was 35 inches

I am not sure how well that will work down there, it be blocking the oil cooler a bit too much?

If only I didn't have A/C components....

never had a ac or ps on it so dont no where is it spouse to be lol

if u put it in the front it will still block it the same way

I know people put them closer in the bay like you did, but I cant say that I recall any feedback of it.

I just feel that more out front allows the air to come under the IC and reach the oil cooler better, but I could be talking out my ass as I have no data to prove it, just my feelings based on personal cooling experiments

I ran mine similar to this, except mine is smaller. I didn't want to remove/modify the bumper or the support either. I don't have an oil temp gauge so I don't either if there is a cooling issue or not.

How is the piping done on the drivers side?

comes out same as the passenger just ran out of pipes so didnt finish that side yet

i like the location. its what i would do if i had a turbo fc. post pics when your done running the pipes.

I'm not a fan of the front mounts.

I prefer sandwich mounted. My oil cooler still gets fresh air.

Half the front mount installations have 6 miles of piping because the wrong (in m opinion) intercooler end tanks are used. Look at the HKS intercoolers as an example: the pipes run through the bumper under the headlights. There is probably twice as much piping as necessary.

If you have the equipment, make new end tanks and send the piping out through the side of the rad supports. There is plenty of room and it doesn't mess with the head lights. It also allows you to mount the intercooler BEHIND the bumper support, so that it is protected and that you have not compromised the 5MPH bumper function (you know, so you can still pass a safety inspection).

Or, mount the intercooler just in front of the horizontal rad support, and modify the tanks so that the pipes exit vertically then take a 90 degree through the rad support. Notch the support.

Both these setups have half as much piping as others, and far fewer couplers.

I regret going front mount. I will eventually build my own custom V-mount.

buy rotary extreme's setup...

Their set-up isn't bad. It was well thought out. It does include EVERYTHING. I'd much rather build my own... For less money.
