Best way to mount the FTP lenses?
Well as I said before in this thread, my RX-7 is nearly perfect.
A while back, my right side FTP fell out due to the plastic behind and cracking and the bolt/nut rusting somewhat. I just a "new" used one from a RX-7 store around here for $10. I want to put both of them back in NOT using the stock method as they will surely fall out again. Anyone got any ideas for mounting these short of JB welding the sumbitch's in there!? Thanks  |
oh c'mon.. I know this has happened to other people before... c'mon..
|
yeah happened to my driver side....but lucky it didnt fall off...it was loose enuf to pull out....so i crazy glued that thing haha

I never had a problem...If holes enlarged, put a piece of thin copper wire in hole before you put the bolt in.

Well, I took the advice of the guy at the RX-7 shop. He said to use silicon (like caulking) and just bead those mother fuckers in. I did a *pretty* neat job of it ( you can kinda see it on the drivers side one.. :( ) and they're holding pretty well after 15 mins of drying.
Cure time is 2 hrs so we'll see. He said silicon will hold em in FOREVER. I took a look at my shower, still holding strong and mildew free (for the most part), meh I guess this'll hold. |
super glue eh? I think I'll put a thin coating of that stuff on when it's dry just to be sure ;)

Looks as though they will never come out!!!!!!!!!
|
That's the plan ;)

Use white latex caulk make shure you slop it on the lense. It will look tits.

Lots are old and faded turning yellowish... :( OH, and they don't have any bolts/nuts so the only way to install them is use adhesive (like silicon or crazy glue). PM if you're still interested :). |
