Best way to ~320HP on an S5 Turbo
Hi all, Im brand new to RX-7's, and I was wondering what's the best way to get my pure stock 90' S5 Turbo from 200HP to around 320HP. I'm not sure where to start so I was wondering what are some basic upgrades I can get.
Could anyone give me a list of mods I could do? (Name of Mod) , (HP gain) , (Price) ^ like this please so a noob like me can understand =) Thanks |
haha I thought you were gonna tell us how to get to 320hp. you should have named this thread how can I/what is the best way to...

320 flywheel horsepower, so what, 280-290rwhp? BNR stage 1 or 2 hybrid turbo, front mount intercooler, 720 primary & secondaryinjectors, Rtek 2.1 programmable ECU (dyno tuned), 3" exhaust, probably 12 psi, then other supporting mods such as possibly a new radiator, suspension, etc
|
Mate, I have just been through this and currently running 458rwkw. First thing to consider is an aftermarket computer as the stock will no way cope with the next mod of higher flowing injectors, mine are 1000cc primaries and 1600cc secondaries, then you will need a good roller bearing turbo to do it right, I got a TO4Z in mine. I went through a brand new motor build and front mount intercooler. So far looking at around $15K

Look in the dyno section, and do research research research. Starting on a path of modifications isn't to be considered lightly without your goals and a safe upgrade path in mind.
Basically, bnr turbo and supporting mods (exhaust, air filter, boost controller, fuel, intercooler, etc). --Alex |

On the turbo page it says "This set up has dynoed 332 RWHP at 14 psi of boost, also has ran an ET and MPH of 12.3 at 114." Is this the Turbo by itself? If not, where can I find what other mods their test rig has? Here is the website where i found it: http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/bn...-91%20rx-7.htm TURBO-BACK FULL EXHAUST SYSTEM///+59HP ??///$450 I was also looking at exhaust systems, and I found this (also on RX7 Store) http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/rx...haust%20fc.htm It sounds almost to good to be true, looking at the alarmingly low price tag. Does anyone have this exhaust? If so, can you confirm/disprove their "...Increases horsepower approximately 32% - a 59 HP increase on a 1987 Turbo II RX-7" claim? GREDDY 720cc INJECTOR///+??HP///$119 ea As far as fuel injection goes, what Fuel Injectors do you guys recommend? I found some 720cc Injectors at RX7 Store, but was kind of dissapointed by their lack of selection. Here's the link to the page that they are on. http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/greddy%20720cc.htm . Also, how many of these would I have to buy? |
To OP-3in turboback exhaust, some way to contol fuel(standalone or safc for those levels), bigger injectors, bnr stage 1 or 2, although if you had a streetport you could do it on the stock turbo. Oh and search, its been covered a countless # of times:)

I agree with getting used to the car before doing any major upgrades. You will be let down by the amount of money and time put into the car if you don't know what kind of potential a stock setup has.
