Best tire size for 16x7's?
 

Im getting new tires soon and as of now the car has 205/55/16 all around and I was wondering if this was good or should I alternate sizes for the front and rear??

Personally I would go 225/55/16 all around if I were you.

Thats just my oppinion though.

i have 16x7.5 and i'm goin 245/45/16 int eh back and 225/50/16 up front

Couple of options. The 205 x 55 are almost the exact same size(OD) as the 225 x 50. 205 front, 225 rear, or 225 x 50's all around. FYI-Depending on the manufacturer, some 225 x 50's will not fit on the front with stock suspension. Actually the RX-7 in 16" was going to be produced with 215 x 55's, but at that time there weren't many manufactuerer's that produced the 215 x 55, hence the 205 x55. I run 215 x 55 front and 235 x 50 rear same OD (Toyo's)

I have 205/50/16 nice tires not to much roll over wide enough to catch the concrete but still easy to turn without power steering, plus the speedo isn't effected...

I got 16x7s with 205/55s up front and 245/50s in the back, really fills out the fenders :p

you can fit a 225 on the 7" rim, if that's what you'd like.

But you don't want to alter the rolling diamete of the tire too much, unless you don't care about how accurate your speedo will (or won't) be.

Personally, I'm sticking with the stock size, but that's only because the Falken Azenis come in either 205/55 or 215/45, and that would just be too small, IMO.


Edit: Also, what will you be using the tires for?

If you're racing or AutoX, then 225 or 235 would be fine, and even a smaller sidewall will be fine, because you'll essentially get shorter gearing, so more accel.

However, if you just use your car on the street, just go with the stock 205's. Anything larger is overkill, plus, you'll just spend more $$ on the tires, and your gas mileage will likely suffer (more rolling resistance)

will 245/45 16's fit on a 16x7 rim??

I have 225 50 16s on some 16x7.5 wheels and you could probably put that same size on a 16x7. The car is slower than it was with stock wheels but it grips like crazy in the turns now.

yep, i have 225/55 all way around

yes 245/45/16 will fit on the stock rims that is what i have on mine they fit perfect and give lots of meat

i ran 225/50/16 all around on stock TII wheels.
