so, say you had your stock 13-18 year old suspension...

what all components are gonna be involved in creating the best suspension/handling possible?

which companies make these products?

whats the best "bang for the buck" products?

Bang for the buck will most likely consist of:

Ground Control coilovers (custom spring rates)
Koni shocks (custom revalved)
Camber plates
and some thick ass sway bars

what about the racing beat package, 2 front springs, 2 rear springs, front sway bar, rear sway bar.....$430 package deal.

then the shocks + struts......they look to be pretty expensive......

any input on those?

Where can you get that package? I've never seen it advertised anywhere, does RB sell stuff direct?

Best bang for the buck? Replace worn parts. Shocks, springs, and bushings. Might aswell get nice aftermarket springs, adjustable shocks, and poly bushing to replace them aswell.

and good tires.

she handle good. Very happy with my suspension.

Oh yes how could I forget tires. Getting some nice, sticky tires can make even a worn suspension seem decent.

sesshoumaru.....can you see a great improvement over top of your stock?

all rx7's handle good compared to most cars, but i want something that's gonna hug some curves at excessive speed....

Yes, you can probably run alittle wider tire, but I'm not sure what wheels you are running on. If you go too wide, your tires will start to roll under your wheel. Not good. You can also cure this by getting a tire with a stiffer sidewall to counteract the rolling.

If you want your car to handle better by far the best mod you can do is a good set of tires. After that on our cars I'd say the bushings are going to be the next in line for wow that made a big difference handling mods.

Next on my list is the RB package and some shocks, haven't decided on the shocks yet. I'll let you all know what I think.

offset determines alot too on tire width

Well i'm waiting to finish my FD so i can find a car that I can drive a car that might handle better.

My 240sx after shocks/spring/bushing/struts/upgraded ball joints and toe links sucks balls compared to my FC.

I'm usually scared when I drive other cars.....

yeah it's better than stock.

i was thinking of the newer 17x8 mustang gt wheels like rxmfn7 has...unsure of offset...

alright, i was looking at kyb shocks/struts....says for all 86-92 rx7's except electronic adjusting suspension......i guess thats the AAS in the gxl models and all?

i have a gxl with this feature, will it be affected?

You cannot run the AAS with any aftermarket shocks that I know of. You can run those shocks, but the AAS will not work.

the aas is a little thing that sets ontop of the strut.

tein makes something like that for their setups.

ive alwase wanted to throw a tein suspension on my FC but i cant decide whats the best... i think its between the HE and the RA. i do a little bit of drifting, a little dragracing, and a little circuit racing so ill prob go with the RA. what does everyone think? anyone with tein already?

koni, tokico, or kyb better? i want this to prevent drifting.....i wanna be able to hang curves and not slide..

The best bang for the buck on tearing up a twisty road is driving school. If you haven't already, go autoXing. If you have autoXed, then try to get to some type of driving school. Also try reading a book on suspension, and how it works, and what works good for what conditions.

Ultra-stiff shocks and springs maybe good for the track, but hitting a decent bump on a backroad with a stiff setup could send your car slightly airborne.

What do you guys think about the Rear-toe-automatic-gimmicky-pos-in the rear suspension link?

Do most of u guys run it? It scares the hell out of me...the car feels so unpreddictable....and the suspension is not worn. (its an 88 GTU suspension...stiff)

But then again im used to alfas and they handle awesome.

Anybody here have experience with the Rear-toe eliminators?

One way I approach handling is this:

Your actual suspension will change the dynamics of the car inside of a turn and affect its general character that is observed from inside of the car (understeer, oversteer, when those characteristics appear in a turn, etc.)

Your tires will determine how fast your car will be able to perform the way it does before it loses traction.

Given, that theory is full of holes and exceptions, and changing your suspension setup will also allow you to maximize and completely utilize the grip that your new tires will give you, but that's my general way of looking at supension and handling. I personally got fully adjustable coilovers and an adjustable sway bar because I like to experiment with the manner in which my car handles, and so I can find the perfect neutral cornering that will make me feel like my car handles perfectly.
