best clutch and flywheel?
im going to order a new clutch and flywheel soon and was wondering what are some good clutches. i do not autocross or street race but i still want a strong clutch and a light flywheel. also has anybody had any experience with removing the pilot bearing??

I used to have the Bonez clutch. I didn't like it very much, since there wasn't a noticable difference in pressure, and I still burned it up at the track. I just ordered the ACT HD clutch kit and ACT Prolite flywheel from rx7store.net. We shall see...
Edit: Pilot bearing is fun to remove!!! |
I have the ACT street/strip clutch and HD PP.
I've spun the tires going into third. The clutch could be a bit more grippy though, it feels a lot like stock... James And when replacing the pilot bearing, get the correct bearing puller. I had access to one and it was a breeze. Took less than 5 minutes. Guess I got lucky ;) |
yeah ive heard about damaging the e shaft trying to pull it out. iw as thinking about getting the centerforce clutch off mazda trix and the aluminum flywheel off racing beat.

If you want a good clutch that isn't that heavy duty of a clutch then go with an Exedy OEM replacement. They are actually cheaper than the stock Mazda clutches and a hell of a lot better.
Now if you want an upgraded clutch that can handle substantially more power then stock and comes with a lightened flywheel then check out the Exedy hyper singles. A lot of people like the ACT clutches and XACT flywheels, but I have had nothing but bad experiences with them so I refuse to ever use them again. Just my .02 Zach |
I Have A Act Hd Presure Plate With A Bronze 4 Puk Clutch Made By Competition Clutch. I'm happy With This Combo And Its Not To Rough On My Leg
