Best Apex Seals

What is the best kit of Apex seals of 2mm for 13b 87-88 TURBO?

What is the best Mark?

the rotary aviation 2 piece 2mm seals are good i think. i used them in my s4 t2 engine and i have no complaints. it makes awesome compression and it was broke it in about 500-600 miles, although i used fairly low mile housings. but for the price you can't beat them. i've noticed they're in stock now and i think shipped they're $182, but that's if you live in the USA. shipping is a little higher for international orders. check em out at www.rotaryaviation.com.

Damn.. you broke them in at 500-600 miles??

Maybe i'm just a worry wort.. i put abouit 1600 miles on my rebuild before i even thought about touching the gas..

"Best" is relative. What do you want? Strength? Easy break in? Soft seals that don't damage the engine if they let go?

For most people, stock is "best".

But there's nothing wrong with the Atkins or RA seals.

yeah i was making over 8.5-8.6 on an s5 turbo engine with an actual mazda compression tester after about 550 miles.

I want stock port.. with T04B, 550CC INJ in primary and 720cc in secundary, rtek chip 1.7 and FMIC at 15psi ... but i want apex seals for that combination.....

OEM seals have been known to handle high amounts of boost. Its all about tuning.

And to think....Rx7 Specialties seals have 300degrees higher temperature resistance than ra. The best seals to my knowledge...are RX7 Specialties seals. Calgary alberta, canada.

The seals from RX7 specialties are Racing beat, I have some 3mm RB seals in my car and I didn't really let them break in, but their still hauling ass.

My builder/tuner says we are putting some titanium apex seals from Canada in my rebuild. Anyone heard of those?

wao... titanium!

HeX 12-01-04 02:29 PM

Titanium? As far as I know they are very abrasive and will shred the aluminum in no time.

Cool_ManX 12-01-04 02:34 PM

where i get info about this apex seals...?

BDoty311 12-01-04 02:42 PM

I would like to think that Rotary Aviation makes the best seals, because those are the ones I bought. Suppose to be way more durable, RA claims 30psi can be obtained on their 2mm seals.

Cool_ManX 12-01-04 02:48 PM

RA are supoused to support how much psi?
