beep question, and i have searched

ok, i have been searching and reading about the beeping from under the dash. i have this problem but most of the ones explained talked about a 5 beep sequense and it happening all the time. mine is a continuous beep and it usually only happens when its idleing. its happened before and its been the oil level but not this time. cause the level is good. i dont think its the p/s but who knows. any ideas?

beeping = power steering

it's normaly 3 or 5 beeps.

Sure it's a beep, and not a buzzer???

For beeps, you have power steering, convertible top, lights on/door open, Key in ignition.

For buzzers you have Redline, coolant level, engine oil level, seatbelt.

Man, the first time my redline buzzer went off, I thought I ran over a duck... :)

It's power steering.

DAMN... I'm getting the same problem, I think.

My PS fluid was really low (hardly reading at cold) and so I topped it off (too full, I might add) and drove her for a bit...

It originally was 5 beeps and then it was a solid, non-stopping, annoying beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee... non stop.

I used to be able to shut the car off and then start it and it would fix it temporarily.

This morning, I tried this same "fix" and it would just start, run for 10 seconds and keep beeping.

On my lunch, I siphoned the excess PS fluid and it is at the right level now.

The belts are good.

The coolant reserve has just been topped and I don't believe this is the issue. There is good pressure in the coolant lines. I will check the level when I am done work, but I'm 90% sure this is not the issue.

When the beeping goes, I lose my power steering.

Is my PS pump farked?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

PS. After taking the extra fluid out, it only beeped once, seems to be working fine (for my 15 - 20 minute rip on lunch)

the power steering computer is located under the drivers side dash area... near your knee caps.. just look under there and youll see a small computer box looking unit.. just unplug it and start the car.. see if the beep stops. Than, continue to remove the rest of your Power steering. Alot of people have taken it off. i sure didnt regret it.. it's great

I did a search on "power steering problem beeping" and there's at least a half a dozen threads with 60 or so posts.
