So my car has pretty low mileage at 73k and its been stock long enough...aside from turbo what goes in first???

What does this mean...will it end up turbo'd or not?

tune up/repairs?
true duals?
suspension?

we don't know you, we don't know what your goals are, we don't know a damn thing besides the fact that it's an S5 base and you don't know what you're trying to do.

after driving it for long enough you should be able to tell US what it needs and we can recommend stuff THEN. I think it's time for a nap, i can feel the Hulk about to make an appearance.

The turbo may not go in for a year or not at all. What is the best way to get a few horses out of it while keeping the engine from being turbocharged. I assume exhaust and intake but where at from there?

Don't do any non turbo upgrades/modifications if you are going turbo....why would you want to?

Wait till you get the turbo, then start doing the work.

The man is right...take it from me...someone with an 87 SE who had aspiring goals to turbo my car.....enuff good people will tell you, "Buy a TII..don't upgrade" and they are right....it's too much work thinking about, let alone trying to attempt...and from the looks of your initial thread...you have less of a clue as far as vision goes...than I did....spend 7K on a nice turbo...rather than spend 5K+ on something that's going to waste you time....unless you or your dad is a master mechanic...go a diff route...........and btw...if you want to do a turbo upgrade for "it's and giggles"...get a vert...and do what I'm going to be doing....upgrade that to a turbo....otherwise...steer clear..

What? Swapping a turbo in is pure logic and very easy. And with the help you can get here and the walkthrough at rotary rseurection, any retard can get it done. What you need is the space, time and tools. :)

And I dont take it as work, but pure fun rather.

guys, i don't think this guy is ready for the TII swap vs. buying a TII argument. Look at his original post, he doesn't know what to do and you guys are trying to keep him from doing what he probably won't do anytime soon.


Brice: Upgrade all the suspension components after you do the tune up. Come back when you're done.

That's assuming he has the time, tools (which can add up pretty fast), a garage to do it in, the skill set.
There is nothing "easy" about it, logical steps to accomplish it yes.
Unless he is mechanically inclined, has a full tool set already and a second vehicle to drive during the swap it'll be cheaper to buy a TII.
And I'm with Phoenix on the whole drive for awhile before you upgrade.

So the TII swap sounds like a better deal if I go all out than the upgrade, As for my resources, I have Lieutenant money coming in right before my commision which will be able to do more than fund my wants. I would just rather keep this sweet car running well than buy a new one that everyone else has.

As for the suspension components: Phoenix has a point. I was thinking about doing that in the meantime before my budget comes in/ I commit to it.

I never planned on upping it and just jumped in the market a few months ago. Where would I want to look for the TII stuff when the time does come?

READ, READ, READ. That's the absolute, most important, first thing to do if you're not familiar with rotary's. Get a factory service manual. Do a FULL tune-up on the car.

Don't worry about boost or anything. Suspension ftw.

I'm actually with red7rising on this.... It might be "easy" and "simple" and what not.. but knowing what to get, and tearing your car apart during that time..... and all of the work involved as simple as it is would be a PITA for a person who doesn't even know if they want a turbo or not.

Not sure if you want a turbo? go test drive one.... see if you like it. :) IMO, its easier to save up 2k extra than it is to do a turbo II swap..but I don't work at McD's

look, simplest way:

Upgrade all of your suspension,
then do rims and tires,
then do weight reduction,
then get a nice upgraded radiator,
upgrade to a TII tranny (you have to either buy the Driveshaft, differential, and halfshafts OR get teh MAzdatrix TII tranny to NA diff driveshaft and the starter, clutch, flywheel, counterweight etc., etc.).

By the time he's done he should know whether or not he wants to stay NA or go TII.

If he stays NA then he's gonna have a nice car all around that can squeeze several more HP out of with some other mods (which he will ask for when he gets to that point.)

If he goes TII then he's halfway there.
