Badly Need Help!!

well my car was running fine two days ago, on friday, and i just left it parked in my driveway. today i was going to move it so i can wash her but when i turn her on she stuggled to stay on for a couple seconds and then died. it's happened to me before, i just tapped the gas and it was fine there after. this time i turned her on a second time and she stayed on but it felt like i was riding on one rotor. i tried stepping on the gas but stayed the same. while on like that she backfired every 8 seconds or so. so i quickly thurn her off. i tried a third time and she wouldn't start at all. she tries(turns over) but doesn't succeed. i tried pumping the accel. but no good. my home machanic said he smells gasoline so i'm thinking it's flooded, the reason why it won't start anymore. am i right or is this a much more bigger problem? also can someone show me a picture of the fuse cover of the one's under the hood, please? any information or suggestions would be helpful and appriciated.

The fuse box, if it's the right one, is on the right side of the car if you're in front of the car looking under the hood, kinda by the strut tower kinda, little slender black box.

i know where it's at but since the cover is off i don't know which fuse is which. that's why i wanted a picture, to see which are which.

I think there is a pics in the FAQ at the top of the page.

well can anyone tell me what might be wrong with my car? from what i mentioned what can it be? i hope i don't have to do a rebuild because i don't have enough money for it as of right now. so any possibilties? i'll for the picture in the FAQ but more important is why my engine is acting like this. thanks.

SPIKEFC 02-05-06 06:50 PM

no one can give me their idea/diagnostic for my problem?

FirstRotaryExp 02-05-06 06:56 PM

What year is yoru car spike? and is she NA or Turbo?

SPIKEFC 02-05-06 07:55 PM

she's an 86 n/a

FirstRotaryExp 02-05-06 08:03 PM

Well, then my answer/guess to yoru question would be that you flooded her. Go out and buy new plugs and if you havent done it yet, go ahead and change your oil. If youve done any recent engine work also check to make sure all fuel lines are connected properly and check those for wear and leaking.

SPIKEFC 02-05-06 08:22 PM

cool thanks i was thinking to do that "unflooding process". i just need to re-read it. i haven't doe any engine work but just recently like a 3-4 weeks ago i had the transmission changed. well, thanks and i'll go try it. oh one last thing, the picture in the FAQ of the thin fuse box(under hood) is it the same for s4's and s5's?

FirstRotaryExp 02-05-06 08:27 PM

I dont believe they are the same between s4 and s5. Though I can be wrong. But the easiest thing ive done to get a flooded car to run is to just pull the plugs and turn her over a few times while having the egi fuse pulled, second from teh top if lookign from the left of the car. let er crank a bit then put the plugs and fuse back in and try her again.

SPIKEFC 02-05-06 08:46 PM

so if i get this right, i pull the second to the top fuse. which plugs exactly do i pull?

FirstRotaryExp 02-05-06 09:15 PM

Yes, pulling the EGI fuse, one or both as long as the second one is pulled to stop teh injectors from firing. You can pull the lower plugs and sit back and listen for even pulses while you're at it, cheap compression test, and when you sto getting hit with fuel you can plug it back, or add soem motor oil into each chanber to add a better sealign effect.

awesome. thanks for your help and if you think of anymore ideas of what it may be other than that please tell me. well anyone for that matter.sorry i took long to respond. thanks. it's pretty cool that your sig. picture keeps changing.
