Bad TPS?
 

i just got a 1991 non turbo rx7 and its messed up a lil. its a manual and some times it putters when u shift into the next gear even when u shift correctly and when i put it into fith it looses horse power and slowly declerates even when pressing the gas down. my step dad says its the TPS sensor. he showed me where it was(kinda like on the manifold) and unhooked it while the car was running and it preformed the same which is part of the reason he belives thats the problem. any help will do. also none of the interior lights work yet no fuses are blown, is there a chance that all the bulbs are blow?

If none of the interior lights work, then you do have blown fuses. In the FAQ for FC found at the top of this section there is the fuse box layouts and location (I found them on my first trip online here).

TPS could cause the engine running problems, but to really find out you should check the ECU diagnostic codes.

And I don't think you are allowed to bump here (post to bring your thread back up- without posting new information). I bet Icemark or someone will spank you on that.

From the symptoms you describe, I wouldn't suspect the TPS. You can check it though. Check the resistance with the car fully warmed up throttle closed should show approx 1000 Ohms. Then slowly open the throttle while watching the resistance. Should go up smoothly to approx 5000 Ohms. There are a bunch of posts on this forum about TPS checking.

Check the compression of all rotor faces. Low compression can cause what you're seeing and also indicate an upcoming engine replacement or rebuild.

A clogged cat can also cause engine to run poorly as can a clogged fuel filter.

Major vacuum leaks will play hell with an engine's performance.

In short, there's a bunch of things it could be. Have to start eliminating them one at a time before you go in and start turning a lot of adjustment screws.
