Bad motor with NO SMOKE???

3 Attachment(s)
I bought this vert. It will be really nice when I get done with her. The car starts right up, idles, and runs smooth, it just has absolutely NO power at all and the oil pressure is in the negative and never moves. I have another motor to go in her but would like to not replace it if it doesn't need to be..

Like I said it fires right up doesn't smoke at all, not white or blue. Previos owner claims no compression on rear rotor which makes sense. But i have never had one NOT smoke when the motor was toast.

Anyways any comments or suggestions? I added a few pics... And one of my yard... lol.

Yeah, it doesnt take very long and its pretty easy to tell if its bad.

It's probably due to a broken oil pressure sender and no power is probably associated these cars being... you know.. old and torqueless but, Yes do a compression check, only sure way.

RRTEC 10-02-05 06:12 PM

Well as per the last picture I am aware of the old and torqueless part, but this is far from just old. 70mph top speed... 0-60 in about 2 minutes.. Guessing bad seals. But I was trying to get a general thought on weither it was worth MMo-ing it or just pulling it and saying screw it. Stuck seals may have caused the 0psi reading... I was just surprised that it doesn't smoke. It only has 114K on the clock too....

make sure the oil pressure sender is hooked up, and not super dirty. My friends OPG didnt work because the sender's connector slipped off.

These are probably stupid question to ask you, but, is it the original clutch, could it just be slipping to no end?

Sticky/hard throttle body.

Try seafoam?

I've had a blown motor that didn't smoke.

RexRyder 10-02-05 09:23 PM

my blown motor did not smoke also.

Mine either. By the way Trevor, I heard you go that vert for a few hundred? True? If so and you want to get rid of it, PM me.

RRTEC 10-03-05 07:31 AM

True. But I probably won''t be getting rid of this one.

RETed 10-03-05 07:36 AM

Why are you pounding on it and trying to guess what is wrong *before* doing a compression check?
I would like to see the numbers with my own eyes.
Hell, even a quick&dirty compression check just to see if you can hear "whooshes" from front and rear rotors would be nice...

You know what they say about "assume"...
