bad mileage

My car has really bad mileage and i just took it into the shop because there was fuel in the crank case. Not sure if they fixed the problem but there is still fuel in the crank case. They said it was the throttle sensor was bad and the fuel sensor was unpluged so i have no clue what else it could be. I am also going to call a local rotary mechanic.

Bad mileage? okay i think i have solved the problem...ready? its an rx7
and idk what kinda mechanic you took that car to, but RX7's dont have crank cases

Fuel sensor I assume means 02 sensor?

well i guess the mechanic is an idiot.
but the guy said it was a fuel sensor not o2 but he doesnt know anything

By crankcase I have no idea what he's talking about...

But high mileage RX7's lose compression, which allows fuel to get into the engine. This is referred to as "flooding". Is the car hard to start? Don't ever go back to that mechanic again.

no it is not hard to start and i wasnt planning on going back there

i get bad mileage also, my 87 turbo 2 killed half a tank after 80 miles. sometimes, the engine dies after couple of seconds. adrock might be right.

Fuel in the crankcase????
Any fuel dilution in the oil can be reduced/prevented by more frequent oil changes and a properly tuned/running engine. Scan the ECU for errors and replace/fix anything failing. And, clean all power/ground/harness connections. Then, change the spark plugs and wires, replace the O2 sensor, adjust the timing, adjust the TPS, adjust the idle(if car stalls bump it 100rpm), change the air/fuel filters, replace all vacuum lines that are dry rotted or cracked, run a bottle of quallity FI cleaner, and see how your mileage is from this point on.
