Bad leading coil?

After getting my FB running with FC coils I was putting the timing gun on each spark plug wire to make sure I had the timing zeored in. Everything went perfect till I got to the L2 wire. It woulden't fire the light on the gun but it would read RPM on it. So I pulled the wires off each leading spark plugs and swaped them. It followed the wire so it seems there is something wrong with the L2 side of the leading coil. But what made it even more strange is I pulled a plug out and set it on the strut tower and hooked the L2 wire to it and it would fire the light on the gun! WTF Anyone have a clue??

thanks in advance

update
it will fire the light on the timing gun if I unhook the L1 plug wire. Could it be the L1 side of the coil just has a little less resistance than the L2 side?

no takers ehh??

Flip your guns clamp on the wire around. You know. If the clamp for the gun shows an arrow pointing towards the sparkplug, reverse the clamp til the arrow points towards the coil instead of the sparkplug.

L1 cannot fire unless L2 has fired. That's the way the system works. Trust us.

Why can't the L1 fire if the L2 doesn't fire? Is it a ECU thing or a coil thing? I ask because I'm running a E6K. The leading coil only has one ignitor.
going out to the garage right now to swap the clamp around. Worth a shot.

I'll be damned... It worked! But why does it work with the spark plug side correct on the L1 and backwards on L2?

Thanks for clueing me in!
