Bad Compression?
Well when i first bought my car, i had it inspected at a mazda dealership, and the mechanic there said my compression is 55 for both rotors.
I also read on this site that someone had a compression of 100 for their rotors. I am wondering if I have bad compression? I drive an 86 GXL |
yea you should have at least around 80 for a minimum and 55 is going, going, gone.
|
Is there anything i can do fix this, or am i pretty much toast?
|
rebuild time
|
Well i plan on swapping it for a tII engine once i get the money, but im just wondering if there is anything i can do in the mean time?
Also, how much would it cost to do a rebuild? (I live in canada btw) |
um...well you could start by looking it up online.....call companies and inquire there. And in the mean time, just be easy on the car.

Rebuild the engine or swap a rebuilt motor in.

Also, shouldnt an establshed Mazda dealership know whats up? Why would they tell me this was good compression? |
mazda people know nothing about rotary engines about 80% of the time maybe even more.
|
Well then.
Thank you for that information. Much appreciated. |
They probably felt the air with their hands and so that means its good. lol They probably didn't even warm it up or anything else to compression test it so its probably like 40 to 45psi.
