Bad bov..which bov should I replace it with?

Well my HKS super seq. bov is sticking and I need to replace it. My bud said to get something other than the expensive HKS. What do you guys run/recommend? Any pics of them mounted would be cool. My mods are in the sig.

Blitz BOV, I like it a lot more than the HKS. It's a rush of air, sounds more menacing than the chirp like HKS to me.

^ i thought the Blitz BOV had seroius leaking issues.. many people have had leaking blitz BOVs. i say greddy type-s

adrock3217 04-05-06 09:43 PM

Yep, I've heard the flanges or something with the Blitz leaks on a lot of them!

+1 to the GReddy :D

i say try the cheap hks knock off....... im using 2 of them, and i know of quite a few people that are using them w/ no problems...... so it would be a plug and play deal.... swap yours for that one.....and if you end up getting something different later, its only a $60 loss

Read the April issue of Modified Mag. They have a section on counterfeights vs copied parts and specifically address HKS BOV and HKS "style" BOVs. They said their HKS style one never held boost properly, and was made out of cheaper internals. I'm trying to figure out if my HKS is fake or not.

I had a Blitz. Even though I never encountered this problem, but they are very very prone to jamming of the piston.

I would open up you're HKS and lube everything,.

how do I get this thing off? It looks like it twists off maybe?

TIAL!

Madrx7racer 04-06-06 06:41 AM

HKS is less prone to leaking because of it's "pull" mechanism............I say try to fix the HKS.

RenofHeavens 04-06-06 07:24 AM

I own two cars with Blitz and do not have leaking issuess, could be how they are fitted maybe? With the new DD style, it's similar to the HKS in which it is pull style and will not leak.

I say just get a Turbo XS RFL...haha I would've gotten that but, meh, I don't want to attract too much attention, even though my wastegate dumps to atmosphere :-D

Most of the BOVs I've encountered are held on by a big snap ring on the flange.

classicauto 04-06-06 12:20 PM

Turbo XS....that was on te TMIC though - I wll be running somethign dfferent this year....not sure what yet though

Don't see a snap ring. Anyone?

SwiftTone 04-06-06 11:07 PM

its a c-clamp at the base of the bov. its between the bov and flange. you need a "special" tool to get it out.

importedboi 04-06-06 11:28 PM

i would go with tial or the xs power RFL (hella loud)
