So I managed to break these little things that vaccume lines and electrical plugs go into. Ive broken the vaccume nipple off the top of the one with the orange plug in it, and have broken some thing that protrudes out of the end of the one with the grey plug in it.

I would like to know what they are called, and if mazdatrix sells them (though it would be nice if I did not need them :) ).

edit: My car is 88 GXL mods: full exhaust, and FD alt. I was taking off my intake stuff to fix one of my siezed 6ports.

best bet is goto the junkyard and get one. I have an extra one but its on my spare motor!! sorry

teknics 03-19-06 01:50 PM

they are solenoids.

just do the rats nest removal and youll throw them away anyway.

kevin.

Will I be able to get through emissions without them? If so then ill make em gone.

RotaryEvolution 03-19-06 02:38 PM

no, which is why you don't listen to most of the idiots on the forum. probably cost about $5 at a wrecking yard and takes about 2 minutes to change.

jimmyv13 03-19-06 02:38 PM

You'll need them for emissions...best bet is finding them in a boneyard.

Jaguarx7 03-19-06 02:59 PM

I believe the gray one is the Fuel Pressure Regulator solenoid, you don't want to be without that.

gxlbiscuit 03-19-06 05:50 PM

dont mind karack hes always got his panties in a bunch.. hahaha California= emissions... i havent lived in a state with them yet....

The broken solenoid valve (orange) is for the FPR. The gray one is for the ACV's switching valve.

Longshoe, the FPR solenoid valve is not needed for emissions; it's part of the hot-start assist system. If you don't replace it, you'll need to bypass it. The way it is at the moment means the FPR is recieving no manifold pressure signal, so you'll be running very rich at all times except WOT.

Ha!~ I just broke one on Tues. Thankfully i have a few spares.

if it's running rich i would say it IS needed for emissions.

NZConvertible 03-20-06 11:58 PM

It's running rich because of the FPR vac leak. Fixing the leak by bypassing the solenoid would be just as effective as replacing it. It is not needed for emissions.
