Average cost of a flywheel
 

Well i just had my clutch replaced last week and even though i was sure i needed my flywheel resurfaced because i ran my hand acrossed it and noticed it had a huge wave in it but my uncle (who was performing the repairs) swore up and down no i didnt and now i have high pedal engagement..as in my brand new exedy clutch doesnt grab until the pedal is almost fully released ,& i was searching and found that it can tear my clutch up in no time and cause slipping..but i dont really have the money for a lightweight flywheel $250+ ,so i thought i would call napa to get just a oem replacement and he told me it would be $1200.07!!!!even though a year ago i bought one from there for my mr2 for $80..so my question is ,is there any place i could get a replacement for cheaper than the above prices?Btw i dont think my flywheel is in good enough condition to be resurfaced...sorry for the elaborated story

Don't bother with parts stores for that kinda stuff. If they can even get it, it won't be affordable. Best bet would be to post in the classifieds. They're not exactly rare. I have a few of em myself.

Adjusting was the first thing that came to mind because when i had my master and slave cylinder changed i had it adjusted because it was slipping a good amount (before the new clutch) ,but im
not to sure if thats the issue or if its because of the old flywheel

I paid $180 for an ACT Streetlite Flywheel (new) and had the counterweight from a parts car i bought with an automatic. Mine is a turbo, if yours is an NA your options are limited.

One thing to consider: Both the NA and the Turbo have a stepped flywheel, although the turbo only has a tiny step in it. If the flywheel is excessively worn, the pressureplate's clampload will be much less. It would cause the "high pedal." Also, if the flywheel was resurfaced incorrectly ( IE friction surface too low compared to pressure plate bolting surface), it would do the same thing.

if its your flywheel, this is only a temp solution, i have seen used lightweight flywheels go for 100 bucks or so, maybe even contact performance shops to see if they have one for sale from a customer or something. Sometimes that happens too. Good luck

I have a 86 na.& when i felt the flywheel it seemed like a pretty big step,the clutch grabs fine ,its just the high pedal that is bugging me.If i drive easy would my clutch be okay for about a month or do i need to replace the flywheel or get it resurfaced asap? I just dont want to ruin my new clutch.

are you going to pull the car apart and spend hundreds of dollars on a hunch?

Thats what i dont wanna do.I just spent $350 on the clutch and labor last week..so adjusting the pedal i will do
