aux. ports

I looked through the pervious pages to try to find my answer and really couldn't.

I wanted to know if you could tell me how to make my aux. ports open up other then the factory way.

I have a 89' GTU that has a bonez cat replacement pipe and apex' n1 cat back with no air pump, their are no cats on my car.

I know the stock cars ports open up somewhere around 3300 rpm and would like to make them open up again at that rpm or somewhere close to it.

I think right now only backpressure is opening them and it must be at higher rpms because their is a feel of hesitation when accelerating.

here's a list of other things on my car to give you more information.

bonez intake dual funnel system, main and alternator pullies are underdriven, jacobs electronic ignition box, and the ecu has been reprogramed by jet for all the above applications.

Closed ports up high is bad. They're there (2 words that should never follow each other) to promote low/mid range torque (increase velocity) and open in order to promote greater flow up high which increases power.

I just need to know how to open the ports without the air pump.

Isn't their another way other then backpressure?

and if backpressure is the only way who here has a system that works properly?

I have a bonez cat replacement pipe and a N1 Apex' catback.

Not backpressure.....the actuators work on low vacuum. I removed the actuators and pulled off the intake and removed the 6th port sleeves. Then made blocking plates. I have seen somebody thread (tap) the hole and installed an allen head bolt. That looks very nice!

I heard that you loose 12ft lbs of torque but a gain in HP

On the S5s, the air pump opens them. But you removed yours so you have to find another way. Have you trying searching under "5th 6th ports" or something like that? There should be tons of info. You could just put the air pump back on.

Dude! You searched? Not hard enough. The answer Is right under your nose and has been covered very recently. This completly eliminates the use of an Air Pump yet allowing the the Auxillary Ports to function. https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=121833
