AutoMeter makes a dual guage pod that fits '86-'88 RX-7s, and '89+ cars without the "mouse" belts (automatic seatbelts).
|
yeah
yeah, I know. I am trying to find out if the piller will hold 2 of them. I already have one (not installed yet). is there room for a total of 4 pods?
|
i have also thought of this
I have also thought about putting 2 dual gauge pods on 1 a-pillar. It would work, although the second pod would require some minor modification to fit properly (the pods are designed to fit right at the bottom of the a-pillar where it angles off a bit, so you would have to modify the angle on the second pod to be straight or take it off all together, not recommended unless you have had decent experience with plastics and re-shaping/cutting them.)

oh yeah
good point, thanks dude

even if you can get it to fit on there right they would be really hard to read at a glance
|
i figured
I figured I would but the boost and AFR in the most optimal place and the water temp amd oil temp in the other places. Ill deal with the egt somewhere else.
jared thanks |
VDO also sells a dual & single window pillar gauge pods (up to 3 gauges) will fit)
If you use the "black rivets," it looks very sweet. |
Autometer also make dual pods for Australian drivers, ie right hand side of the car. Order one, and put it on the passenger side. I've got the dual pod on my car, and if I sit in the passenger seat (which is rare) I can see the guages perfectly. It's easy to see where the needles are from the other side of the car, besides, it would probably be too close if you had one on top of the other.
|
i thought about that. you say you can see the gauges "good enough"
jared wgere would I get this part from? |
I have the Autometer daul pod, and it kinda sucks in how it fits. But, I can read the gauges well, and it works.
|
Oh sorry, I didn't see the "2". Yes, two will fit if you modify the bottom of the 2nd one. However, the gauges may be hard to see.
|
Oh, you are wanting 2 separate pods? may I ask why? Why not just get a dual pod?
|
cool
I wonder if some good 2 sided tape would hold the pods up. Line both sides with it and such? we'll see this weekend?

They come with little screw like things that you drill the pillar and pod, and push through. WOrks REALLY well, but puts a little hole in your pillar.
|
two sided tape
Two sided tape will most definitly NOT hold the pods on.
I recommend screwing them in with black screws that you can get some nice black caps for (assuming black interior). Mine looks great, I'd get some pics up...but no camera. Besides new A-pillar is only what? $80-100 so if you ever want to take out the pods just buy a new a-pillar. Also mine never came with screws, so I went out and bought 1/8" self tapping screws (I think 1/8 anyway) and those worked great. |
RICO
2 dualpods. for a total of 4 guage pods. ~j |
Originally posted by jaredcolletti RICO 2 dualpods. for a total of 4 guage pods. ~j 2 dual pods are still only 2 pods because the dual gauge pod is only 1 pod, however 1 pod contains 2 gauge holes (only refered to as dual). Because the "Dual Gauge Pod" is singular meaning 1 pod, containing 2 "holes" for pods... so in other words 2 pod 4 gauge setup...I need to get a life really... |
