The Authorative S5 N/A vacuum thread

I've been putting my S5 N/A back in almost stock condition and I've had a heck of a time find info on the vacuum routing. I've gathered a lot of info from a lot of reading and thinking and I'm going to condense it here. I'm taking pictures of the reassembly as I go in the hopes of being able to make sure that I've got it right, plus save some people a lot of work later on.

I'm going to post the pics I have to date, plus ask for some clarification here and there and I'll update and edit the thread as time goes to ensure that it's accurate.

There will be a few more pics not posted here at my album: https://www.rx7club.com/album.php?albumid=3879

<h2>Main vacuum trunk underneath the UIM</h2>
Of the five hoses snaking around the primary fuel rail, the fourth from the left connects to a nipple coming off the LIM that's hard to see in the pic, and the fifth connects to the right most oil injector on the keg. Notice the big read letters that read '<font color=red>WRONG END</font>'. I put the large hose on the wrong end. That end with the hose clamp on it goes there.<br>

<h2>this valve</h2>
I don't know what it's called, so chime in. Sorry for the bad pic, but it took me a while to figure out that the valve was missing the nipple on the bottom. That tiny hose that you see bent there in the middle is maybe 1.5" long. It comes right off the metal hose nipple just to the right and to the bottom of that valve.

Maybe a moderator can give you permission? I think it has a 30 minute time limit for editing by default

The ACV has these two large nipples: the one on the left connects to a warty looking hose (pic follows) and the one on the right connects to the air pump.

The nipple in red connects to the pressure sensor, the nipple in blue, I have no idea. If anybody knows, please let me know.

I hope that these are helpful to some of you. If you spot any errors, let me know so I can make corrections.

"The ACV has these two large nipples: the one on the left connects to a warty looking hose"

that hose just directs air to another silencer under the pass. headlight and vents to the outside air.

<h1>ERROR</h1> Picture #5 in post #6 is wrong. Where it says charcoal canister, that nipple is capped on my old intake. I don't know what should/might go there. Any ideas?

As for the line to the charcoal canister, if you look at the oil filler neck where it enters the block, you'll see a nipple sticking out. This is where the line to the charcoal cannister connects.

jjcobm 03-03-11 08:12 PM

OP: Why do you intake manifolds, ACV and 5/6th port actuators look like they just got off the shelves of the mazda parts warehouse? I didn't know they could look so pretty.

markusparkus 03-05-11 01:02 PM

they all spent time in the bead blaster followed by a coat of engine enamel. It was a lot of work, but since I had the thing torn down to the keg, I decided it was a good time to do it.

I am rebuilding my engine and this thread is what the doctor ordered! Thanks for putting this together. If this isn't archive worthy I don't know what is.

markusparkus 03-05-11 10:02 PM

welcome. Just make sure that you read all of it because there are a couple of mistakes that I corrected later on.
