ATF concerns
Hey, I wass thinking about doing the ATF trick to my 7s and I got to thinking: If ATF will foul the plugs and possibly clog the cat, wouldn't it just redeposit a fresh layer of carbon over the inside of the engine when you start it up?
I heard that performing the ATF trick with Amsoil powerfoam instead will accomplish the same thing without fouling plugs etc. Anybody have any ideas?? |
I've read a thread about using water as a decarboning agent. Search in the 2nd gen spec, I think it's in there.

How about using Acetone or Rubbing alcohol :D

A better substance to use would be Marvel's Mystery Oil. It's sold in a bright red bottle and was developed long ago as a super/turbo charger lubricant. It is designed to be burned and burns much cleaner than ATF. I use it as an oil additive in my 1st gen. Very good stuff. |
if you let a carbon coated rotor soak in ATF, see how well it breaks up the carbon. It doesnt do a very good job. Your much better off burning it off. Thats why the tach goes 8k =]

is it still safe to use ATF or not? please let me know, 'cause i don't want to kill my rex....
