Armorall on wires...good idea??

So about every month I spray all my wiring harnesses with armor-all. I have noticed that when I forst got the car, some of the wires were very hard and britle feeling, yet not cracking. After spraying them once a month with armorall I notice they are very soft and almost as flexable as new wire. This makes me feel very good. But is there any downside to this? I feel it is a good idea to prevent any damage to the wires/harnesses due to cracking.

Any thoughts?

Hmm... never heard of that before.
Sounds harmless enough :)

not sure, just don't spray it on the belts.

I was once told by a salesman of another brand that Armour All causes cracking on rubber ect.ect., I have never had any problems with it though, it was maybe BS?

You will want to avoid getting any Armor All in the plugs/connectors, as it will attract dirt.

My personal experiance is that Armor All is only for tires. Works great on rubber products. But most of the wiring in your car is vinyl.

I have had a couple of older car's vinyl dash tops crack after using Armor all on them a couple of weeks before.

So I would think that vinyl covered wire would be fine, until it gets brittle/dry. When that happens I can see the vinyl covered wires cracking open if you used Armor All.

If you use Armor All, You have to keep using it on a regular basis. If you stop using it it will cause certin materials to dry out and crack faster than if you had not used it at all.
