A'PEXi GT Spec exhaust
I'll make this quick. I have a S4 T2 and it needs a new exhaust. I'd like something deep toned(like so many of you). I was looking at the A'PEXi GT Spec exhaust. My question is, is anyone running this unit and how does it sound? Before someone comes out with the obvious "Use the search button" response. I've tried it and it seems that it leaves "GT" out because it's too common(mainly in the FD section)
Other than that, would anybody have any other ideas about some deep toned exhaust systems they can think of in the $500 range? If so, please let me know. Thanks, Antaous |
if its a single exhaust its going to be loud as fawk.
|
I love mine.

.... everyone says everything will be loud as "fawk" as you so colorfully put it. i was told my setup would be too loud to bear. mind train header, 2.5" test pipe and N1 single, to me its hella hella quiet compared to every custom exhaust ive ever had on my car. the GT-Spec i have heard on an N/A with header, it was very mild and had an extremely sweet tone to it. i think it would be a great choice.

if you're going to spend that much, just get the racingbeat exhaust.
|
Ever consider Borla? Its not a real common choice but it is supposed to sound real nice.
|
If I went down the path of the racing beat path, then i'd just get the complete setup(d/p to muffler). Which just may occur if the single muffler exhaust system doesn't work out. And the lowest i've seen any full RB exhaust was around 700+. Borla is nice, I just could never imagine the sound of one on a rotary motor. Otherwise, would you all say it's a good choice? Mine will be on a T2, but if it sounds good on an N/A then it must be good on a T2(nice theory, huh)
|
i think its a great choice, Racing beat is good, but everyone and their mother has one and its really not some super exhaust like everyone makes it out to be. i think if you had a 80mm dp and mp to hook to the gt-spec it would be better than the RB setup, but thats just me. i can tell you that it sounds freakin awesome, i loved the tone as i think you will as well.
the n/a and t2 exhaust wont sound much different if at all. |
Get a RB turbo back. It doesn't disappoint. No buzz buzz like N1 or GT cans(knock offs sound worse). It IS a great exhaust. Not everyone and their mother has it(although a lot do have it, guess why.....).
|
Well, guess i'm going to go with the RB turbo back exhaust. There's no sense in buying the A'PEXi then buy the RB later in time. But now, my alternator has gone to crap. So I guess i'll be looking into the FD conversion(hopefully they are still available through Silverrotor)
|
My RB catback exhaust has a really nice deep bass quality to it. I see more deer moving out of the way for me as compared to other cars, or maybe I'm just imagining things.

I have the Apexi N1 on right now, with cats though....
with the silencer off.... that thing scares my cat. Without the silencer, my friend's custom exhaust on an Integra (don't ask) is even more quiet than mine... the N1 is loud enough, i've heard the GT is louder, especially in turbo of course but of course, I like to talk to my passangers in my car and not yell all the time. So i put the silencer in... and well it is bearable, wish i had a dual exhaust, (just for the looks) but i am satisfied with the Apexi N1 =) hope your friends don't eat grapefruits, or else..... it fits right in.... |
I love my power extreme, barely louder than stock with a good tone.
|
I think the apex'i N1 exhaust is awesome. I'm not to big of a fan of the dual exhaust. I just love the way that one big ass pipe looks comin out of the back.
|
Try http://www.rx7.com and look at their RP racing exhaust, its cheap and efficent. And I've only heard good things about it.

For the people with the GT Spec, what other exhaust parts are you using? To better understand what I want, I'll explain. Something that I won't have to give an arm and leg for for the whole unit($800 max from the d/p back). Something that I won't have to worry about when cops happen to be behind me(Which is rather often). & Something that won't take away from the sound of the rotary.(I did buy the car because of it's uniqueness.(if that's even a word) And I really don't want to be mistaken for a Honda, Acura, Toyota, etc... of any sort when i'm around. I want people to know that distinct rotary sound when i'm on my way. As far as that RP system goes, i've never heard of anyone using it, can someone give some feedback on it? Like the GT-Spec question, what other exhaust parts are you using? Thanks for the replies guys(and girls if there are any replying) |
RP 50mm cat-back on my last Turbo II, w/ factory dp and midpipe. Very deep idle and rev tones, a little drone at highway, and wicked sounds under boost. You could still easily hear your stock sound system in the car, or even talk easily.
I'd go that way this time, but I'm looking for a more carbon-fiber exhaust-ish sounding piece this time, like the Porsche 951 cup tone with a rotary shreak coming through it. |
